Salvagetti Bike Shop

Salvagetti is simply the english word salvage with T-T-I added at the end to make it sound Italian. The pronunciation is sal-va-jet-tee. The word literally means a bike shop at 1611 Platte St. in Denver, CO. We aren’t making fun of other bike shops with big attitudes. We promise.

So, we want Salvagetti to be a place that you count on not only for product that you trust and love, but for advice on bikes. We aren’t full of ourselves, so you don’t need to be scared. Now that we have that clear…

Salvagetti is the only bicycle shop for people who want to learn about cycling without the fuss of sorting through hours of information and hype. We love the products we sell. You will, too. No one enjoys returning something that doesn’t work (at all or as promised), so we only sell quality products that we know to be great. We know that if you have a great experience with us, you’ll come back and you may even bring your friends with you.

We consider it our job to make you love cycling. So, let us know what we can do to help you out.  Phone: 303-691-5595

Tri and Give a Dam

Twenty Two half-Ironman races in less than 30 weeks.  Think I can do it?  I'm already signed up for ALL of these races, and I am

excited! Water shortage is a global issue and a growing concern.  My goal is to reverse the ravaging effects of the drought in Africa, through my passion: triathlons!  I am accepting pledges for In Our Own Quiet Way, a 501(C)3 organization that is building dams in Kenya to retain rainfall.  Quiet Way's "Give a Dam" project is an innovative, self-sustaining program, and you can be a part of it.

Here’s the deal: if you commit to a $5 minimum donation, together we will earn enough to build 1,000 dams, potentially saving 3,000,000 lives!

The VeloDyne Trainer was developed over 10 years ago by Frontline Technology, Inc. The VeloDyne was marketed by Schwinn after they acquired Frontline in 1987. Schwinn sold several thousand but stopped production during their bankruptcy in the early nineties. Many cycling teams, world class athletes (including Greg Lemond), university research labs and the IOC used the VeloDyne.

Driven by continued requests, several members of the original development team at Frontline have joined forces to continue the Frontline vision.

Features of VeloDyne Trainers:

  • 20lb flywheel delivers best "road feel" of any trainer
  • science grade precision ensures accurate results every time
  • self contained unit, no PC necessary with the classic/pro/elite
  • compatible with Fitcentric NetAthlon 3D software
  • Sturdy construction lets you sprint with confidence
  • Race, train and perform fitness tests on all units
  • Interactive menus keep rider motivated.

JDS Sportcoaching, LLC uses the VeloDyne Classic to do physiological testing on athletes. Jonathan also uses it for "foul weather" training days.

Lactate measurement is used by sport scientists and coaches to accurately determine Heart Rate training zones and recovery.

Lactate is a metabolic product that can be measured by taking a drop of blood at a fingertip the same way diabetics monitor their blood sugar level. The blood lactate level increases with exercise intensity and shows clearly the transition from aerobic to anaerobic activity.

Lactate measurement is far more precise than the outdated and inaccurate method of using percentages of maximum heart rate to set training zones.

Because heart rate is an individual response, heart rate training zones need to be determined by measurement of physiological variables not set by mathematical formulas. Furthermore, the relationship between exercise intensity and heart rate is different for different exercises, eg. heart rates for running will not be the same as heart rates for cycling for any given intensity.
